Trane Acoustics Program (TAP™)

Acoustic levels can be a key element of high performance indoor environment quality, and they are often difficult to determine. TAP™ acoustical analysis software makes it easy to accurately predict and compare system sound levels. Quickly compare the sound characteristics of several system alternatives and choose the one that best satisfies the design criteria.

TAP is updated to incorporate changes made by ASHRAE. As a result, TAP is an excellent tool for predicting background sound levels from HVAC equipment. The program can be used to meet LEED® for Schools EQ Prerequisite 3 and EQ Credit 9.

  • Visual modeling of equipment (fans, diffusers, etc.) and building components (ceilings, walls, ductwork, etc.) in each sound path.
  • Library of sound data available for Trane products, plus a “custom element” option to model equipment not found in the library.
  • Multiple-path analysis—e.g. discharge airborne, discharge breakout and unit-radiated sound.
  • Calculates NC, RC, and dBA ratings for each path and sum.
  • Enables a quick comparison of calculated sound levels with the desired NC value.
  • Documentation and support to quickly get you started—manual, tutorials, templates and more.

[Version 4.1] 9/21/12

  • Updated to be compliant with Windows® 7 folder and security restrictions
  • New Report Viewer
  • Fixed calculation issue where the line source length was not being used correctly during calculation
  • Fixed file save issue where the diffuser dimension was not saving properly
  • Fixed saving issue where the comments were lost for end reflections

To install and run the program you will need: a Pentium® 4 or higher processor, Microsoft® Windows® 7/8 operating system, at least 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM, and 500 MB of free hard-disk space (750 if Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is not already installed).
